Aboriginal Australians were the original custodians of Australia. They arrived from countries in the area we now all Asia, approximately 40 000 years ago. The word aboriginal means 'from' 'beginning'. They lived off the land and some of their methods have survived 40 000 years to be used today. Overall there is estimated to have been 300 language groups throughout Australia.
