Oh you may not think me pretty,
But don't judge on what you see,
I'll eat myself if you can find
A smarter hat than me.
You can keep your bowlers black,
Your top hats sleek and tall,
For I'm the Hogwarts Sorting Hat
And I can cap them all.
There's nothing hidden in your head
The Sorting Hat can't see,
So try me on and I will tell you
Where you ought to be.

You might belong in Gryffindor,
Where dwell the brave at heart,
Their daring, nerve, and chivalry
Set Gryffindors apart;
You might belong in Hufflepuff,
Where they are just and loyal,
Those patient Hufflepuffs are true
And unafraid of toil;
Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw,
If you've a ready mind,
Where those of wit and learning,
Will always find their kind;
Or perhaps in Slytherin
You'll make your real friends,
Those cunning folks use any means
To achieve their ends.

So put me on! Don't be afraid!
And don't get in a flap!
You're in safe hands (though I have none)
For I'm a Thinking Cap!

Lord Voldemort and his Death Eaters have you and your friends cornered. All of your friends are wounded and don't have much of a chance. What do you do?
    Grab your friends and RUN!
Curse the Death Eaters with the most advance spells you know (thank you library!) while quickly calculating the best way to escape with your friends in tow.
Escape and leave your friends to fend for themselves. After all, this is your life we're talking about!
Tell your friends to go, you'll hold them off!

What would your boggart turn into?
A pile of rotting corpses: your late friends and family.
A dementor: you fear only fear itself!
    Your dead body.
Hungry flames burning up thousands of age-old documents, scrolls, and books from every place and time.

Which animal are you most like?
A fox: with your slippery disposition, you're cunning and sly enough to get the chicken from under the farmer's over-large nose.
An owl: as the Greek goddess of wisdom's symbol, you're definitely not a bird-brain.
A wolf: living in a large pack, you're always ready to protect and take care of your kin.
A tiger: at the top of the food chain you're the boldest cat in the jungle.

Out of these four, what is your motto?
Be a good friend; friends are worth more than the most precious gem.
Live by the sword, die by the sword.
The pen is mightier than the sword. (Or, to read or not to read . . . what a stupid question!)
The law of the jungle: eat or be eaten, kill or be killed.

Whose advice are you most likely to follow?
No one! You're your own person, and besides, you learn better from experience anyway!
Why should you listen to anyone's advice except your own? Doing what other people tell you isn't going to get you to the top anytime soon!
A teacher: they usually know what's best. But if that doesn't work, books are the most accurate sources of information on the planet.
Your friends: they know you better than the backs of their hands! They'll surely know how to help!

What, out of these four, is your favorite book (besides Harry Potter)?
You like dark books, like the Scottish Tragedy by William Shakespeare. They're a lot cooler than those wimpy little stories about sunshine, daisies, and pink bunny rabbits.
The Magic Tree House series! Although, you do like poetry too, especially poems about friendship, small children, and cute fluffy pink bunny rabbits . . .
You'll read anything and everything! But most of all you like nonfiction and deep and challenging stuff like the Iliad or Romeo and Juliet.
King Arthur is awesome! You love all that stuff about courageous knights and beautiful maidens and how Right nearly always wins against Might!

How many friends do you have?
You don't have a lot of close friends, maybe three at the most, but you sure seem to have made a lot of enemies!
You have some very close friends and a lot of almost-friends. Not to mention all those enemies that seem to be popping up lately.
You have a couple really good friends that are just as intellectual as you, but most of all you enjoy the company of a good book, preferably the one the professor assigned to you to read by Monday.
You have loads of friends! And you're loyal to every last one of them!

Some creepy guy approaches you in a dark alley and demands your money. What do you do?
Give him your money and RUN!
Give him the money, but tackle him as soon as he turns his back on you, then take back your wallet. Aww . . . sweet revenge!
Quickly analyze the situation and decide to hand over the wallet. After all, with your brains it won't take long to save up what you've lost!
Hit him where it hurts! You're not going to let this guy intimidate you or push you around!

Uh oh! You didn't do your homework last night? What are you going to do now?
Bow your head in shame when you tell your teacher. She/he won't be able to resist your puppy dog face!
Am I kidding you? Of course you did your homework! Voldemort would start dancing the can-can before you forgot an assignment!
Quickly do it in between classes and finish it during recess. It's not your best, but at least you have something to turn in!
Lie. You forgot it at home, you'll bring it tomorrow, you promise.

In your dorm, you have a large poster of a famous person. It can be a Muggle, witch, or wizard. Who is it?
Miranda Goshawk: she wrote all of the Standard Book of Spells books. Thanks Miranda!
Albus Dumbledore: he defeated Grindelwald in 1945, you know! Yeah, and he's really old, and really powerful, and he's funny.
Martin Luther King Jr: he peacefully campaigned for civil rights in the USA and won the Nobel Peace Prize. He wrote and delivered the famous "I Have a Dream" speech in 1968.
    Lord Voldemort: who else?

If you could have one special power, what would it be?
    Power, I say! POWER!
All of the knowledge in the world!
Wouldn't it be so cool if you were invisible?
    Ummm.... The ability to fly!

If you could have one wish would it be?
That all evil should be banished from this world!
To be an influential, successful, and powerful person in society. No I mean REALLY powerful!
    1,000 more wishes.
    To end world hunger.
