Do You Want to Make a Difference?

  1. Developed by: Moonpaw

Here, it doesn't matter what political party you belong to (if any at all) or whether you're liberal, conservative, in between or anything else you or I can think of. This is testing whether you care enough about the world around you to stand up for whatever beliefs are yours.

Question 1: Do you know the names of the two senators for your state?
No.
Yes.
What does this have to do with it?
For one of them...
That's the least of it!

Question 2: Do you keep up with current events?
I read several sections of the newspaper and sometimes use other sources.
I read one or two sections of the newspaper and will watch the news if it's on.
Somewhat.
No. In fact, I purposely avoid news shows on TV.
Yes! I read the newspaper and watch the news on TV, check it on the internet, in magazines...

Question 3: Do you vote? (If you're not old enough to vote, click what you will do when you are or would do if you were.)
Always, in national, state and local elections.
Usually.
Sometimes. It's not like my vote actually makes a difference.
In presidential elections.
Why should I?

Question 4: Your fellow students/co-workers/friends are protesting something. Where do you fit in?
I talked to them about it and have an opinion, but didn't actually join them.
I was at the protest with them.
I don't.
I considered it, but decided it was a waste of time. What's the chance they'll listen?
The whole thing was my idea!

Question 5: What's the most you would do?
Distribute fliers about my cause/volunteer my time.
Exist.
Organize a protest/rally.
Vote/write a letter to the editor.
Donate money.

Question 6: What would you rather do?
Listen to music.
Play video games/watch non-educational TV.
Play a sport.
Anything for (insert cause here).
Read and/or write.

Question 7: Do you have an opinion on the war in Iraq? (I'm not asking what your opinion is, just if you have one.
Of course, who doesn't? (insert opinion here)
Yes.
Why does it matter what I think?
What's that?
Not really.

Question 8: Why do you do things to help people?
Because it's a requirement for school.
Because it's right/I'm a good person.
Because my parents/friends want me to.
Who says I do?
Because they need me.

Question 9: Some friends want to start a Gay-Straight Alliance at your school. You approve of this (if you wouldn't, pretend you do), what do you do to help them?
I don't get involved. What are the odds it'll actually happen?
I go with them to talk to the principal, but don't do much actual talking.
I agree with them but don't want to get involved--what if people think I'M gay/lesbian?
I go talk to the principal with them, help them get a faculty advisor, complete other requirements, and join once it's established.
I don't get involved. How much does this really matter?

Question 10: What do you do to help the environment?
Recycle, and try not to waste water.
Why should I care? If I want to drive a huge car it's none of your business.
A lot of things around my house.
Everything I can. From the trash I throw away to the car I drive, I'm thinking about my impact--and I try to convince others to do the same.
A couple of things, but how much does it really matter? I'm just one person.

Question 11: And finally, would you ever run for political office?
I couldn't do that! I wouldn't have the foggiest idea what I was doing! You'd have to be insane to vote for me!
Why would I do that?
Yes! In fact, I'm seriously considering doing so.
Maybe... I'm not sure I could handle it.
No. I don't think politics is for me.
