No Matter What It Takes
“I’m doing this for her,” I repeated those words under my breath over and over again, desperately trying to convince myself I had done the right thing after watching her glitter away with a betrayed look on her face. Although it hurt to admit, I told myself that I wasn’t who she wanted me to be anymore… fate had different plans for me. But I’d made my choice. I was going to end this on my terms. Hopefully, she would forgive me, because if I lost her…I didn’t want to think about what I would do if that happened. Despite the pain burning in my chest, I turned around to face the Neverseen and joined hands with them as one of them pulled out a leaping crystal and we glittered away…
Although it had been several weeks since I had joined Neverseen I had only managed to discover one piece of important information between relentlessly training. It wasn’t much, but at least I had something to show for my persistence, something to help me remember why I was doing this. I was trying to protect her. Now all I had to do was find a way to tell her what I had learned. Speeding up at the thought of seeing her again, my heart tried to ignore the fact that she might hate me now. Suddenly an inspiration came to me, and I had the vague idea of a plan with which I could relay the information to her. I just hoped it would work…
Finally, something had gone as planned. Unfortunately, I wasn’t entirely sure that I was back on good terms with her after I had left her in a torrent of raining glass. Luckily my fears were put to rest when she reached out to me telepathically later that night. She promised to reach out to me like that every night. Even though she wanted to be mad at me I could tell she just couldn’t which made me smile. Knowing that I hadn’t lost her, I went to sleep happy for the first time in a long while. Since I had joined the Neverseen I had one mission to protect Foster, no matter what it took…
