Middle School, Something I Know Nothing About: Ep. 6 (My Alt Life)

"Boo!" Someone familiar yelled in my ear.
"ACK!" I shrieked, "what was THAT for, Jill?" Jill smiled innocently at me.
"Getting your attention. Because there's something that you might not know about here."
"And what might that be?" I inquired, mustering as much dignity as I could.
"Well, in this school, every year the seventh and eighth graders have a dance. The sixth graders vote, though. And we're voting today! At lunch!" I stared at her.
"A dance? We might have a dance?" I was incredulous, "I thought they didn't have dances till high school!"
"Nope! And I think it's wonderful! I might get to dance!" Jill exclaimed. Meg came up the hall.
"You two are going to be late for history if you don't go now," she reminded.
"Let's go!" I walked as fast as I could, not wanting to get two tardies from the same class. Meg fell in beside me.
"I still can't get Gwen to believe me," she mentioned, "I think you have to get her to believe you."
"That'll be the day," I replied.
"Gwen is stubborn--"
"Really very stubborn," I mumbled.
"--BUT I think someone'll get through to her someday."
"Talking about Gwen again?" Jill queried.
"Yep," I responded, "now let's get to history, before we all get tardies!"
