This is a poem I wrote for English class. I wrote a poem about my aunt who passed away when I was about 2 years old. Thank you for reading! (p.s. the English prompt was to use the word “remember” at least 13 times, so it may sound a bit repetitive)

    How can I remember,
    When I was barely born?
The way she looked, laughed, cried.
There’s no way I could remember.
    But if I can’t remember,
Then why does it hurt to recall
    The memories I never made?
There’s no way I could remember.
I feel like I should remember,
    Remember a cry, a laugh, a smile
But how much can you expect,
    From a two year old.
There’s no way I could remember.
    You would think pictures,
    Would help me to remember.
    Not really.
All they do is make me remember,
    How much I can’t remember.
    I can only remember the stories;
It seems we’d of had so much alike.
But when I remember that a car took her life,
    It makes me think,
“I really wish I could remember.”
