About my past...

    1

    You're just a little girl
    too young to understand
why mommy is not in your life
    You're just a little girl
    too young to understand
    why when you visited mommy
    she yelled and hit you
    and why didn't she stop?
didn't she see you were scared?
    You're just a little girl
    too young to understand
why you have to take medicine
and why you have to be sent away to someplace
    for a while
    You're just a little girl
    too young to understand
why your stepmom hurts you, too, just like mommy did
and why neither can love you
    like a mother should?
    You're just a little girl
    too young to understand
why the kids at school don't like your voice
    and think you're weird
it's not like you had a choice

    ..

    But now you're a teen
and you're old enough to understand
    that your parents are divorced
    Now you're a teen
and you're old enough to understand
that your mom is not a good person
and that's how come father took you away
    Now you're a teen
and you're old enough to understand
you have something called Autism, and
back then you were too much for a father to handle
    Now you're a teen
and you're old enough to understand
    that sometimes mom gets mad
    and she hurts you
but does that justify her actions?
    Now you're a teen
and you're old enough to understand
nobody cares if you didn't have a choice
and all you want is to be normal
they will still put you down because they can't see that little girl

    .

They cannot see that little girl
    being thrown against the wall
head spinning, she can't feel the pain
and cannot remember how it felt
    only how she got it
They cannot see that little girl
listening to mom and father argue about her
and they cannot see when she wonders why it's always her
They cannot see that little girl
    being screamed at
    getting things thrown at her
and she doesn't know what to do
And now that she's a teen
    they still don't see her
they still make her cry in math class
or laugh when she says anything
And now that she's a teen
she's realized they don't see her
    and decided it doesn't matter.

A wise person once said

Just because you don't see it happening doesn't mean it isn't happening

Your poem is so beautiful. And I am so sorry about that. 😔 I love poems like these that tell true sad meaningful stories. How has your life been since then? Are you okay? Really good writing!

Unfortuantely, all of my poems are 100% true. I write them as vents.

I have to take medicine to stay calm because I am autistic

They thought I had ADD though (which I still do, I am diagnosed with ADD, ODD, Asperger's, and PTSD)

Very sadly. I can recognize myself in this poem. I’m like you but I never had to take medicine against it.
