Another poem I wrote for English class. The first stanza is actually from the previous year's English class, and it’s aleatory. Basically, I took a random page out of a random book, crossed out random words, and made something of it. The other two stanzas I added in the next year’s class.

    “See you later.”
    He was away 156 days
A child aged, pulling at hem
Feet raced for the last time
    Pretty pictures then looked old
    Here, going by strong,
    I wait at the door

    For 156 days
    For 272 days
    For 583 days
    Each day, hope never fading
    As the sun fades
    And the noises fade quiet
    I wait

    I waited 794 days
A knock at the door sends my heart racing
Years of disappointment, scared for another
I rise and walk to the door
    My heart is elated
For oh so long I waited!
With a smile and a hug,
    I receive a hello,
    More than 156 times over.
