    White-tailed Deer
    White-tailed Deer
Very overpopulated. A whole family is living in our backyard, fawn with them.
  • Place 39
    Turkeys
    Turkeys
Of course people here hunt them—it’s a tradition. But their population is still concerningly huge.
  • Place 38
    Groundhogs
    Groundhogs
We have a family of them with kits living under our shed. Again, they have population control on them.

  • Place 37
    Blue Jays
    Blue Jays
    Beautiful, extremely territorial birds.
  • Place 36
    Cardinals
    Cardinals
Famous for their magnificent colored red feathers.
  • Place 35
    Mourning Doves
    Mourning Doves
Their coo sounds very sad, like they’re mourning.

  • Place 34
    Rabbits
    Rabbits
    🐰 🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰
  • Place 33
    Sparrows
I’ve seen a lot of different species of them.
  • Place 32
    Robins
Most everyone has seen them. They are red-breasted.
  • Place 31
    Chipmunks
    Chipmunks
One lives in the window-well of the basement.

  • Place 30
    Squirrels
    Squirrels
The difference between a chipmunk and a squirrel is that squirrels are larger and don’t have a stripe down their back.
  • Place 29
    Great horned owl
    Great horned owl
One of my personal favorite animals.
  • Place 28
    Bears
    Bears
I haven’t actually seen them, but there have been a few bear sightings nearby.
  • Place 27
    Bees
    Bees
You probably know I’m a beekeeper of sorts. If not, check out the quiz Would You Do Well at Beekeeping?
  • Place 26
    Ruby throated hummingbirds
    Ruby throated hummingbirds
These beautiful birds are known for the speed of their wings and can fly in any direction.
  • Place 25
    Fish of several kinds
Lots of fish. Trout and sunfish.

  • Place 24
    Raccoons
Notorious for invading your garbage. Also infamous for having rabies. Don’t ever trust a raccoon that’s out in broad daylight.
  • Place 23
    Crayfish
    Crayfish
I caught a few of these.
  • Place 22
    Pigeons
Everyone should know pigeons. They can live every where.
  • Place 21

    Bald eagle
Apparently they used to be endangered-but not anymore.

    Seen lots of different kinds.

  • Place 18
    Toads
    Toads
I’ve caught three to four of them.
  • Place 17
    Dragonflies
One day, there were a couple hundred of them in our (half acre) yard at a time. Scientists are still trying to find out why.
  • Place 16
    Seventeen year cicadas
    Seventeen year cicadas
They only come out every seventeen years, and this year (2019) they emerged in my area/district.
  • Place 15
    Cicadas
    Cicadas
Regular cicadas for comparison. These ones are sort of like crickets.

  • Place 14
    Praying mantis
    Praying mantis
I’ve seen a few. Apparently they mean good luck 👍🍀
  • Place 13
    Bats
    Bats
I’ve seen lots. They are in NO WAY dangerous to humans living in America any more than a squirrel might be.
  • Place 12
    Butterflies
    They’re so pretty, aren’t they?
  • Place 11
    Moths
    ...

  • Place 10

  • Place 7
    Stingray
    Stingray
These are egg sacks, more commonly known as mermaid purses.
  • Place 6
    Bison
    Bison
Most people think buffalos. The proper term is actually bison.
  • Place 5
    Elk
    Elk
    Very much like deer.
  • Place 4
    Cockroaches
I only know I came face-to-face with one because I know I got bit by one.

I think they might just look different, and maybe have a couple other differences

Thanks NHYT Yeah cockroaches are gross which is half of the reason why I didn’t add a picture (the other half is that I was way too tired).
