Im in the same situation here (but idk if i like her) and i really know what you mean. With all the staring, almost romantic texts and maybe touching you in a way that you might start wondering if that's how best friends are supposed to act. I mean, everyone says that its normal and that girl best friends do that, but you really can't tell.
I think you got it right, she might actually like you but is too confused herself to admit it. Have you ever brought up topics like this? Like, what does she think of bisexual people, mention gay celebrities and talk about their lives, movies in which two friends fall for each other, ships etc. And watch her reaction to see how comfortable she feels talking about such things. Maybe the conversation gets awkward because she somewhat relates to what is being said. But perhaps that's good, because she will understand that you're ok with that. It could give her a boost.
Well tbh, my friend and i really (like REALLY) talk about certain ships or songs with 'suspicious' meaning and she gets confident enough to nearly confess her feelings but in a playful tone, so that im not sure if she's simply playing around or being honest while still not having figured out what's going on. When we walk our hands accidentally brush against each other and she sometimes touches me like the boyfriend i never had would. She stares at me almost dreamingly when we listen to music together while i do little dance moves (PLUS OUR FACES HAVE MORE THAN ONCE BEEN A BIT FAR TOO CLOSE HELP). Maybe you should put some music you both like on and see how it goes? She might feel too comfortable to control herself. My friend is shy but with music on she forgets it all.
Ok i just realized i have went on talking about my situation a bit too much, while im supposed to help somehow, if you ever see this reply. Maybe my story could help you, idk. But you said you have already confessed. Witch means that if she does like you, she feels quite pressured since you already made a step, so now its her turn. Perhaps she's not ready to make that step and gives you hints instead hoping that YOU do something. Tbh I admire your bravery, confessing is something i never did and sounds really scary. Confessing means you know what is that you're feeling, but she still can't be true to herself and figure it out. I think you're doing great, just keep on giving her chances to accidentally half-confess, even that would be good. I am nearly 2 months late to reply, things might have changed in the meanwhile but i hope it goes well!
