Violin seems like a good instrument to learn. How difficult is it? It sounds great played on its own or with a group.
I have an old piano that still works and that I am trying to play. But pianos aren't portable. A digital keyboard with touch-sensitive and weighted keys (and at least 76 keys!) could be more practical for beginners.
I played trumpet in high school band, but my college did not have a band. It was fun to play the trumpet but was limited in opportunities after I graduated. This is an all-too-common story I think.
