Maybe you didn’t know, but I love to draw! In all my years, I have gathered some tips. I do NOT do digital art, these are tips for PAPER art.

Hope these help,
Becca🦊🖤

    GIVE YOURSELF TIME
I have found that art turns out better if you do it all at once. For an easy drawing, give yourself 30-40 minutes. For a medium drawing, give yourself 40-50 minutes. For a hard drawing, give yourself 50-60 minutes. DO NOT TAKE BREAKS! Maybe do the sketch, and rest your hand. Then the cleaning up, and rest your hand, and so on.
  • Place 9
    BREAK IT UP INTO STEPS
For a normal drawing, you can break it up. Here are the recommended steps:
    Sketch
    Clean up sketch
    Final lines
    Ink
    Color
    Erase all pencil
    Final touches
These are the 7 steps I usually use.
  • Place 8
    USE PRINTER PAPER
This is an obvious one. You should use clean, white paper. If not, when you go to scan it, it will look crappy and low quality. So yes. Use printer paper.

  • Place 7
    USE REFERENCE PICS
    USE REFERENCE PICS
Use... a reference... pic...PLEASE! They are SO helpful for character design. If you wanted to draw...uhhh...Amy Rose as a human (if you don’t know her we can’t be friends) you would want a ref pic that is at the angle you want and and with the facial expression you want. By the way here’s Amy Rose⬇️ (Or⬆️ or ⬅️ Or➡️ Or ↗️ Or ↖️ Or↙️ Or↘️. I don't know ).
  • Place 6
    GET A TEST PAPER
Okay, this is IMPORTANT. You will need a separate piece of paper to test colors, styles, patterns, etc. I use mine to test fur patterns on my anthros, colors if I want a specific shade, and clothing designs.
  • Place 5
    GET A MIRROR
I always keep a mirror near me when I draw. They are very useful to draw poses. I recommend a door mirror or another type of full-length. If you want to draw a pose, you will want to make that pose in the mirror. You might look silly, but it is very helpful. The same goes for facial expressions, by the way.

  • Place 4
    LIGHTING
You will need normal, natural-like light to draw. No colors, not darkness, no super-brightness. I know, it’s boring, but it’s helpful. You will need to see the colors in proper light so that you see the accurate colors.
  • Place 3
DON'T LISTEN TO YOUR PERSONAL PLAYLIST
Don’t. If it is your favorite songs, you will get distracted. The radio is fine, as long as it is not TOO good of songs.
  • Place 2
    RECORD YOUR ART
You will need to scan or photograph your art. Don’t want to lose it! That’s all I have to say about that.
  • Place 1
    SIGN YOUR ART
You will want to come up with a small signature to put on your art. You will need to claim your art. You won’t want it to get falsely claimed!
