That info was said in the Manga if you read it. I don't believe the anime tells you that fully, I don't remember that part in the anime.

The one that says about Natsu's scarf, is wrong is mother made it before he died. He was revived by Zeref who had the scarf and gave to him after reviving him again. Natsu never knew how he got the scarf so he assumed Igneel gave it to him and he assumed that once a scale leaves a dragons body it goes white.
