Can you imagine a TV show premiere being more widely watched than The Vampire Diaries? This might come as a shock, but the CW's The Flash surpassed even that show in viewership when it premiered on October 7, 2014. Or, being the extreme The Flash fan that you are, you might just be saying, "Well, duh! It IS literally the best show EVER!"
Even if The Flash isn't your absolute favorite show, you must admit it's pretty awesome. But it actually wasn't expected to become the phenomenon it has. The Flash was actually first conceived as a backdoor pilot. But when Grant Gustin played Barry to perfection, exceeding all expectations, the powers that be decided to invest more money to make a full pilot, and to make Barry's world bigger and better.
